Inuko sat down on a large rock on the mountain. It was a peaceful place but she wanted noise again. The howls of many wovles running through the air. The way it once was before. She couldn't stand being alone for this long. It was finally starting to kill her. "I'm sick of this..I want wolves to get back into the wild and howl their freedom to the world as I have done many times!" She yelled out and howled the loudest howl you have ever heard. She began making as much noise as a banshee. She yelped and yipped.

Hearing the cries of the Alphena of the Angel Bay Pack broke the Alpha's heart as he padded around the terrain. Auds perked as he moved his gait to a lope in search of the source of the lonely howls. As he proceeded up the slopes of the mountain, he could hear the cries getting louder. His determination drove him forwards in a hurry to get to the top. Once or twice he was forced to stop momentarily to catch his breath before starting again. Long salmon pink tongue lolled out the side of his jaws as he approached his destination. Upon arrival, his tongue slipped back into his mouth. Seeing his mate like this hurt him deeply.
"Your calls may be heard for leagues. It hurts to see you this way."
Soft tones flickered out towards the distressed femora. Strong pistons carried him to her before allowing him to stand still. Tassel flicked behind him before being still as well. Retreating to fitted haunches, amber orbs gazed at the Alphena with utmost care as if attempting to lull her within its depths. Auds perked forwards to catch the words of the Alphena if any were to be spoken.
"Tell me what troubles your heart so."
The sound of want could be heard within the howls and cries echoing across the terrain. The deep wanting of freedom like the ancestors before him racked his insides with a tremor. Memories of many nights of running with his old pack were still fresh in his mind. So were the images of their deaths. Shaking his crania to rid him of these thoughts, he turned his attention back to Inuko. He already knew the answer to the question but he had asked it anyways. The cool air that had picked up ruffled his mixed coat. It chilled the tip of his wet nose. The sense that the weather might get colder worried him.

Inuko turned to look at her mate and faced down at the floor as silence came over the area once more. Only the wind could be heard until a bird began calling out. The bird flew over the trees and into the air making it's way slowly torwards another patch of trees.
"I just wish for wolves to roam free like they did before the coming of the humans and their weird machines."
The alphena turned her gaze back to her mate which stood before her very hushed up after he asked his question. Thoughts of the past came over the both of them for a moment before floating away with the wind.
"Many wolves have come and gone, and the lands grow smaller as the humans begin bringing just a bit more every other year. Wolves cannot go on like this for very long Kida. We can't survive in the wild if there isn't any wilderness anywhere."
Inuko's voice was soft and yet firm. The power she held showed and yet the personality shined through just as well as the power did in her voice. The femora's ears twitched as she turned and watched the bird that had taken flight before land in the patch of trees and startle other birds on the branch it had landed on. They began making a fuss for a moment before fluffing back up and trying to sleep in the shade once more.

The Alpha's gaze was drawn t'wards the birds as well, pondering what was to happen now that the humans were coming in their bunches. His mate did have a point in all of this ruckus that was taking place. The humans were over populating the area and were driving them out of their homes... The thoughts tumbled in his crania as he became silent for a rather long period of time. As he did speak, his words were a little choked.
"You're right. Soon there will be no home left for us."
He hated to admit that soon their home would be gone but it was the truth. Sighing, he walked over to her and retreated to fitted haunches once more. The longing for the wolves to run free again was too in his mind. It hurt him to think that one day he and his mate would be just a memory in the pack. His gaze was brought to Inuko once more.
"I suppose the only thing we can do is wait and see. There is no true way to determine our fate though, even though I hate to admit it, our days are numbered. Nonetheless, we should keep our chins up."
He did not know if his attempt to cheer her up was working but he hoped it did. The mood was bleak even for him. He heaved yet another sigh and looked back out at the terrain. This was his home and he wanted to defend it. This place had accepted him when no one else would. The sight of the birds did spark a bit of hope within him. The thought of the slightest possibility of life being able to thrive made him happy.
"Ya know, those birds give me hope."
